Women’s World Cup: Who Will Win?

The 2019 Women's World Cup has been one of the most exciting World Cups yet. With nail-biting performances from the USA team, to a surprising win from the Italy team, this has been a World Cup that is both unpredictable and impressive.

As each game goes on, the US has made a lasting impression on fans hearts with their continuous wins. Megan Rapinoe can be considered quite the key player, as she scored both goals to lead a 2-1 win versus France, on Friday night. Not only does the US play hard, but they also act tough! During an intense game against England, that determined what team would move on to the finals, the US scored 2-1 making them eligible for the 2019 World Cup title.

In the midst of celebrating her goal, Alex Morgan imitated drinking tea and was slammed by critics saying it was offensive towards England. Teammate Rapinoe quickly defended Morgan by saying, "I don't think anyone truly believes that we disrespect the game or our opponents... We like to have fun and enjoy ourselves, and these are the absolute biggest moments to do that." Morgan responded by saying, “I wanted to keep it interesting, I know Megan Rapinoe has the best celebration. I had to try and step up this game. I feel like this team has had so much thrown at them and us. I feel like we didn’t take an easy route through this tournament and ‘that’s the tea.'”

The 2016 Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton tweeted, “Congrats to the #USWNT for earning that tea.”

We cannot say that England did not put up a fight, they stormed their way to the top on Thursday night, with their best performance of the tournament. Against Norway, England landed a whopping 3-0 score against their opponent. Now the team will go head to head with Sweden on Saturday at 8 am, for the chance to be named the 2019 Women's World Cup third-place team.

One of the most surprising wins, perhaps, had come from Italy as it took on Australia's, Matildas, in the opening match of the World Cup. Italy had not been taken seriously in this tournament until they came on top with a shocking 2-1 win. Although Australia, did not seem to carry on much further, Italy made it to the quarterfinals. Their World Cup journey ended with a defeat against the Netherlands (0-2).

With that being said, tune in on Sunday morning at 8 am, for a powerful Women's World Cup match that cannot be missed.
